Four leadership skills every business manager should possess

Much of a team’s success relies on the effectiveness of a manager. Yet, while many aspire to become business managers, not many are cut out for the job. But, according to CEO and investment professional Gene Bernshtam, there are four essential leadership skills a manager must practice.

Decision-making is an integral skill a business manager must possess. Numerous concerns are laid on a manager’s desk every day, each with different levels of importance and difficulty. A business manager must be decisive and confident in their decisions as this affects their team and the work they produce. Problem solving is a skill often underestimated. Things don’t always go to plan, but a manager who’s a skilled troubleshooter finds a solution at the best time, preventing potential losses.

Communication is a strength that every person entering any industry hears as among the most important skills to carry to achieve success. Business managers ought to be good communicators to not encounter issues at work that arise from misinterpretations or miscommunications. Effective and powerful communication is also integral in sharing with the team positive points and notes for improvement.

Gene Bernshtam considers delegation a skill, but not many managers are keen on observing. Among the responsibilities of a business, a manager knows the strengths of their team members. Managers might need to use a strength-based survey to know their employees’ strong areas. With this knowledge, they can delegate tasks more effectively and confidence that each member will accomplish their work.

A seasoned executive, Gene Bernshtam is a graduate of Loyola Business School with a degree in finance. He is currently working in commercial real estate investment and development firm Avalon Holdings LLC. Visit this blog for more updates.
