Two more important safety reminders when working out

For a business leader to be able to do his or her job to the fullest, he or she needs to be in top shape at all times. This is why Gene Bernshtam stays in shape through weightlifting. That being said, while lifting weights, there is absolutely nothing more important to a person than to stay safe.

From making sure the workout area is tidy and all the equipment is in place to proper stretching, warm-up, and cool down procedures, there are a number of safety measures people should always observe while working out.

Today, Gene Bernshtam adds two more safety reminders to that all-important list.

Hydration is key.

Workouts take a toll on one’s body. As a person expends energy, the body becomes hotter and thus releases sweat to cool itself down. To replenish the water stores of the body, a person has to always hydrate. Adequate water levels help a lot of bodily processes and keep you healthy.

Wear the right gear.

While this may seem like a mundane reminder, wearing the wrong gear may lead to more than an ache or pain, says Gene Bernshtam. For example, a person wearing running shoes for cross-training runs the risk of an ankle sprain from lateral movements – since running shoes are only meant for mostly forward motion.

Avalon Holdings, LLC’s Gene Bernshtam graduated from the Loyola Business School with a degree in finance. He received Series 7 and 63 licenses that allowed him to work for an investment banking firm right after college. He then started an auto business and a real estate company.
